Amino acids for training
Amino acids are the components that make up the protein in the body and are necessary for our muscles, our metabolism and our immune system to work.
Amino acids join together and form long chains creating the protein's characteristics and shaping its functions in the body. The chains consist of 20 different amino acids, but eight of them the body can not produce nor store itself so it is important that we add them through diet. These amino acids are called "essential" amino acids and are mainly found in animal products such as meat, fish, eggs and milk.
Because our muscles are made of protein, which in turn consists of amino acids it can be helpful to add amino acids in the form of dietary supplements during periods of heavy exercise. Before, during and after exercise the body is extra sensitive to nutrients and by providing the right nutrition, you can easily enhance your performance.
You have likely heard of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) which combines three essential amino acids. These three amino acids constitute almost 35% of your muscle mass, therefore BCAA is recommended when strength training to streamline muscle recovery and help build muscle. Fitnessguru One Amino® contains these three amino acids: L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. These three amino acids are the most effective for muscle building and they also increase stamina and endurance.
Other benefits of BCAAs are that they are not taken up by the liver, rather they dispatch directly to your muscles to repair them during training. When consuming amino acids in regular diet, or protein powder, they are first taken up and broken down by the liver which converts them into energy/fuel or directs them to build and repair your muscles.
BCAA also tricks your brain into delaying fatigue. It makes you more alert and focused on your workout which is the reason why people who exercise for a longer amount of time use BCAA to perform despite the approaching physical exhaustion.
– BCAAs are the best amino acids to use during exercise
– BCAAs accelerate recovery, reduce muscle breakdown and promote muscle building
